First it was announced that tourists to Terengganu, notably foreigners, will have to wear a 'more decent' attire.

A day later, the 'directive' on its official website was taken down. What happened? Was there a confusion?
An article on the Terengganu state website introducing a new ruling which bans tourists from wearing "inappropriate attire" has been taken down.
The article was uploaded on Sunday night on the teganukita.com wesbite, but a check around midnight showed that the article on dressing guidelines had been removed.
According to the portal, a circular with guidelines on attire would be released to all Malaysian travel agents and Malaysian tourism headquarters in neighbouring countries, including Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
A meeting was held between the state government and the Terengganu Islamic and Malay Heritage Council (Maidam) to prepare the guidelines.
Maidam is expected to hold a press conference soon to prodvide more details.
The guidelines are expected to outline "decent" attire to be worn by those who visit the state.
The article stated that the guidelines are targeted at tourists, particularly females.
Terengganu is a major tourist destination due to its pristine beaches and world famous islands like Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian, which attract thousands of visitors each year.
Terengganu is haven for tourists - locals and foreigners. With many beautiful and tranquil islands like Redang, Perhentian and Kapas, the state attracts many tourists every year.

The new ruling is well supported by Muslims but many (non-Muslims) believe it will 'chase off' potential visitors to its beaches.

Of course we don't swim or scuba in 'baju kurung' but perhaps there are alternatives to such gears. The Mentri Besar office should clarify the matter to douse off confusion.
