UPDATE:Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has officially negated Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s allegation saying that he has quit his post as Dewan Rakyat Speaker. In a statement released this evening, Pandikar said he would continue with his role and responsibility by chairing the new term of parliamentary session due to begin this Monday and completing the swearing in ceremony for the two new parliamentarians from Rompin and Permatang Pauh.

Former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad told The Malaysian Insider in Ipoh that Pandikar Amin has quit the post and will be replaced by his deputy.

"He came to see me. He said he does not want to carry on, so now the speaker is his deputy," Dr Mahathir said.
No reason was given for his resignation, he added.
This is not a good news to Barisan Nasional and PM Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The Parliament will convene on Monday for its second session this year.
