Kadir's turn

Another new party by another former Umno minister. I wonder how many more would come up but it demonstrates only one thing - whether Umno is really 'sick' or those founders of the new party are 'sick' inside.

After Zaid Ibrahim and his Kita, now its Kadir Sheikh Fadzir's turn.

Among issues he raised when launching Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) today are poverty, corruption and power abuse.

His aim is 'to put Malaysia back on the track that the founding fathers laid for it'. I keep thinking why didn't he say anything about these issues when he was with the Cabinet!
"...the same government being in power for more than 57 years, Malaysia had succumbed to 'decadence and corrupt practices' that 'eat into the body fabric of the whole administration'...
“Democratic principles and individual and human rights, which were upheld and moulded so beautifully in our early years, are now being blatantly and widely abused...
“Corruption at all levels of political leadership is now common. This party was formed to stop the rot...."
Wow! He sounded like a perfectionist, right?

Kadir also said Malaysia would have achieved developed-nation status if the government had followed the course set by the founding fathers and used the country’s natural wealth wisely.

“We should be a country with zero poverty (ZERO what?) and high on the happiness index (isn't he happy?),” he said. “Tragically, the opposite is happening.”

He said the tragedy was the result of “high levels of corruption, abuses of power, leakages, extravagance, greed and the arrogance of the political leadership”.

Well...let's follow his progress.

By the way, the name Ikatan reminds me of Perikatan during Tunku.
