'Hang Jebat' in civil service

You are damn right, KJ.

There was no condition set for Malaysians to become members of Umno, MCA, MIC or any BN component parties before they can be employed by the government. I believe no governments had ever imposed such a ruling.

Whoever qualifies for the job, they are in, and when they are in, they must follow and support the government's policy while keeping their respective ideology out of office.

And that explains why we have so many 'Hang Jebat' in the public service that employs about 1.4 million!
PUTRAJAYA: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says the government cannot force civil servants to support the ruling party and government because Malaysia practises democracy.
Khairy said the political views of civil servants must be respected on who they wanted to support.
He said whether it is the government or the opposition the decision is theirs.
“As ministers, we can’t force anyone to support us. It is not fair to expect them to support BN. We have to respect the civil service’s neutrality.
“I do not force anyone to support our party. Of course, I would want them to, but it is better if they did it voluntarily,” The Sun daily quoted Khairy as saying during a recording of a talk show called “#teatime with KJ” which will be aired over TV Alhijrah.
However, Khairy said civil servants must accept the policies of the government and implement them accordingly.

“We have to respect them as professionals as long as they give their cooperation and support the policies of the government of the day and do not bring politics into their daily work,” he said.
No big deal, actually.

While having 'to allow' some of them working in the public sector - I know quite a number of them who are members of PAS, PKR and DAP, some even hold senior positions - we also have them in the mainstream media.

There are opposition members in Media Prima, Utusan Malaysia, The Star and others. We have Anwar Ibrahim's sympathisers and supporters in RTM's news room and Bernama. They are good at their job, professional enough... so to say.

But as long as they don't act as 'tali barut' for the opposition, I guess its okay. Sometimes its not easy to distinguish.

Even there are opposition members and supporters serving the Cabinet ministers. I don't think their boss are aware of it. Is there any with PM Najib, Hishammuddin or KJ himself?
