An immoral scholar

NO! We don't need Indonesian Islamic scholar (what scholar?) Ulil Abshar Abdallah, 47 (pic), in Malaysia to teach us about moderate and liberalism.

An immoral person like him has no place in our society. I wonder why Saifuddin Abdullah invited this guy who supports LGBT and 'tarekat Ahmadiah' which is banned both in Malaysia and Indonesia to speak at his forum.

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi took the right decision by barring Ulil from entering the country due to a backlash against his ideas. How well Saifuddin knows Ulil is not important but Ulil's ideology on liberalism of Islam is deviating.
Zahid said Ulil Abshar Abdalla would not be allowed to enter Malaysia and speak at a conference Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, the New Straits Times said.
"He was invited by local NGOs (non-governmental organisations) to speak about liberalism but at the same time we received various reports of those who are against his idea of liberalism," Ahmad Zahid was quoted as saying.
Ulil was to be among the speakers at a forum entitled, "Religious Fundamentalism Threat in This Century," organised by the Global Movement of Moderates Foundation and the Islamic Renaissance Front.
Bernama said the ban against Ulil will remain in effect until "he is found to be no longer a danger to Islam."
"The police have received several reports that when he delivers lectures or attends programmes organised by non-governmental organizations, he would not only damage the faith of Muslims but also deviates from the teachings of Sunni," Zahid said.
We don't mind 'importing' any Muslim and other scholars to the country but their motive and ideology must be first well-comprehended.

Ulil himself is not welcomed in many parts of Indonesia. In 2003 (at the age of 36), a death fatwa was issued against him for an article that damages the image of Islam. On top of that, his 'moderate and liberalism' ideology painted him with an ugly personal picture.
In 2012, FPI revealed a scandal involving Ulil with a girl. The chief of FPI, Munarman, during an interview with journalists, provided an alleged evidence in the form of Blackberry Messenger (BBM) text between Ulil Abshar Abdalla with a girl named Marchelinta Dhika. Munarman then told about the scandal. According to him, the girl became pregnant out of wedlock with Ulil. She was then asked to abort her fetus in exchange for a car. It turned out Ulil did not fulfill his promise, instead he only gave hundreds of millions rupiah to the girl's parent. Intrigued by the story, the journalists searched for the truth. It turned out, there were more Ulil's text messages with the underage girl living in Pasar Minggu, besides the previous one. For example, Ulil once was jealous of the girl's boyfriend as expressed in one of his BBM message
You call him a Muslim scholar?

And in defending himself, Ulil said Malaysians need him in light of rising radicalism in the country. He must be referring to some bad racial and religious politics here but still, he should tell that to his countrymen.
Indonesian Muslim scholar Dr Ulil Abshar Abdalla said the Malaysian government has banned him from entering the nation at a time when the Muslim community needs more dialogue to stem radicalism in their midst.
He tweeted via his Twitter handle @ulil this morning that the trend of Islamic conservatism appeared to be increasing in Malaysia, just like in his country.
The development, he said, is not good for Muslims in the region.
Ulil is on the Malaysian immigration's blacklist, which means he will not be on the panel at next Saturday's "Religious Fundamentalism Threat in This Century" forum in Kuala Lumpur.
"The event is organised by IRF (Islamic Renaissance). But unfortunately, my appearance is not gonna happen.
Read Malaysia Chronicle for some comments posted by the non-Muslims about Zahid's decision to bar Ulil.

They were against the decision. Why? First, they don't understand Islam (let alone their own religion), and secondly they simply would like to see the Malays and Muslims break apart by such an ideology.

And what about those moderates who invited him?
