I don't wanna say anything about charges against Azmi Sharom under the Sedition Act. Whether he is right or wrong, let the authority decides.
He has many supporters and sympathisers among university academic staff and students. He is popular, much popular than the Act itself. We made him popular, the police made him popular, and the publicity also uplifted him.
Our students are young and naive about Sedition Act. Their understanding is almost zero. Of course when their 'sifu' is held and charged for sedition, they were outraged and protested. Some of them even stormed the Home Ministry last week.
Let's not talk about rights here. My concern is the government, the ruling party, especially Umno. Where are they when they were supposed to help bring down the issue and put it under control? Why must we let the opposition having a free ride on it?
Where is this Abdilillah who serves as Khairy's media and propaganda chief?
And why is Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan doing nothing to troop his 'experts' into universities and colleges to lure and woo support from the undergraduates. At least, if we can't get all of them to support Barisan Nasional, we could easily get some of them.
I notice PKR, PAS dan DAP are better off when it comes to 'befriending' our youth. They utilitise whatever resources the have, unlike Umno big mouths who always have to wait and bicker over 'budget' before things move.
What is difficult for Umno, is really beyond comprehension. Their always 'no budget' answer doesn't tally with their ballooning tummy.
Just take a look at those 'bosses' at Umno headquarters in PWTC - all 'perut buncit'. If they can spend big bucks taking a big group comprising of members of the media to Beijing (which I don't really understand the purpose), why not a small portion to organise a browser with student leaders nationwide?
And to PM media team - what are you people doing actually? Just 'buat duit'? What about the Information Department? If you people just wanna 'makan gaji buta', may as well resign and let those with ideas and good skill take over!
You are not even helping the government. That's why I pity PM Najib Razak... he is all alone!

PKR Youth wants academics and undergraduates from public universities nationwide to join the hartal (protest) organised by Universiti Malaya students to show solidarity with Associate Professor Dr Azmi Sharom who was charged with sedition last week.Where is Umno Youth? What has Khairy Jamaluddin done in helping the government explains why Azmi was charged or as to why the Sedition Act - which is to be repealed and substituted with the National Harmony Act - is paramount to our multiracial society?
Its chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (pic) said the charge against the law lecturer was not only a threat to academic freedom but also human rights.
"Because of that, PKR Youth would like to express its support to all students and lecturers from UM who would like to show their solidarity to Azmi," he said in a statement.
"We also call on all parties, especially academics and undergraduates from all over the country, to join together in support."
The varsity's student council has called for a hartal tomorrow to show solidarity with Azmi and demand repeal of the Sedition Act, while the academic staff union plans a peaceful assembly on the UM campus at 1pm on the same day.
Hartal is a form of civil disobedience, with workplaces, offices and shops closed as part of a strike.
Azmi, who also heads UM's academic staff association, was charged on September 2 over his remarks in a report titled "Take Perak crisis route for speedy end to Selangor impasse, Pakatan told", published in an online news portal on August 14.
He is the first academic to be hauled up by Putrajaya and charged under the colonial-era law which critics want repealed.
