The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is upset with PKR and DAP for submitting only one name for the post of Selangor Menteri Besar.In a statement from the palace signed by the Sultan’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, it was said that both parties submitted the name of PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace current Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim without giving alternatives as requested by the palace earlier.“The Sultan of Selangor is unhappy with the action by DAP and PKR which has gone against His Royal Highness’ decree on Aug 27,” the statement read, adding that the action shows that they were being rude towards the Royal institution and is a treasonous act (derhaka) against the decree of the Sultan. Also in the statement, Mohamad Munir said only PAS had complied to the request and had submitted three names as potential MB candidates. Mohamad Munir added that the request put forth by the Sultan which was to ask for a list of more than two candidates was in accordance with convention. “This is so His Royal Highness can make a choice on the next MB, not only based on majority state assembly support, but also based on skills, experience, integrity and capabilities of the assemblyman,” he said.
