Investigate graft in Esscom

LEAKAGE of vital information and corruption involving security forces personnel are the main weaknesses that contributed to the recent security breaches at the coastal waters off Sabah, said Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

I can't agree more.

The defence minister said the repeated intrusions were not attributable to weaknesses in the deployment of security forces’ assets, but due to human factors of corruption, leakages and credibility of the security forces personnel.

Hishammuddin, in acknowledging that there was an urgent need to address the weaknesses, said the ministry had reviewed Eastern Sabah Security Command’s roles and functions to strengthen maritime security in the eastern part of Sabah.

“This is not an easy challenge as it also involves neighbouring countries. It involves smuggling, fighting corruption and threats from within and without.

“It also involves our technical position,” he said after chairing a meeting on the implementation of the sea basing concept in the Esszone (Eastern Sabah Security Zone) in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

I wonder if its necessary to deploy some personnel from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Esscom.


Hisham's statement must not be taken lightly as those involved in graft and info-leak must be identified and punished. Without such an action, there won't be any stopping to it.

Bribery and info-leak in Esscom is tantamount to selling off the country to foreigners and as such must not be tolerated.

Let's hear to what Abu Kassim of MACC gotta say about this.

Irrespective of their ranks  and position, they must be held responsible. Even if a minister is involved, he must be dealt with severely!

We had learned a bad lesson from the Lahad Datu intrusion more than a year ago, and I believe an investigation into Hisham's allegation must be conducted!
