I do follow some good blogs and a few 'fiddlestick', uncompromising ones like The Unspinners that labels me as 'neo-liberal', 'a good friend of KJ', 'an MCA friend' and others. I know the people behind it, and they are by brothers too.
They remain anonymous, afraid to be uprooted, hiding behind the 'anonymous' tag as a ticket to hammer leaders, politicians, race and religions to their intolerable desire, calling people names and resorting to profanity to attract more hits.
Yes, compared to them, I am far behind in terms of rating but I don't belong to such a group. Bloggers, like journalists, are segmented into politics, sports, entertainment, women, youth, world affairs and other desks.
And so are bloggers. People like Rockybru, A Kadir Jasin, Dr Mahathir, Dunia Tiger and others do not come in the same fashion as most blogs that 'mencarut, maki hamun dan mencerca'. No, they are not!
However, these (the profanity) blogs are the ones that gain high hit every day, and not surprisingly they reached the 10,000,000 or 20,000,000 mark easily, within three or four years, surpassing that of moderately journo-bloggers' blog.
We cant blame the readers. They like reading such materials. They find amusement in 'maki hamun' and profanity words. But most of them are well-paid by their paymasters.
But I do not have a paymaster despite throwing support for BN, Umno and MCA. I don't go around begging for sponsorship. This is the fact that shocked some Umno politicians, whom all these while tagged me as 'a rich blogger'.
I laughed when The Unspinners labeled me as a 'good friend of KJ', whom I helped campaigning for the Pemuda Youth chief position about four years ago. What did I get from him? Furthermore, KJ hardly knows me!
And I am still okay when The Unspinners called me 'takda otak' over my posting on Wee Ka Siong the other day. I was only taking an 'arbitrating' stand between Umno and MCA, the two key components of Barisan Nasional. Unless, my Unspinners brothers are convinced that Umno can notch victory in the 14th general election alone!
Some bloggers do have this perception - that anything their write is true, and that the future of the government depends heavily on their jottings - like what happened during Pak Lah's 'shortened term' as a prime minister.
There are bloggers who think they are good enough to bring down a government. They are self-impressed with their way of writing, and as such others must respect, recognise and credit them. They place themselves a standard too high enough that when others do not agree with them, they feel dejected.
I realised that I am not another David Everingham of the New York Times who help Nixon reached the pinnacle of politics, and later shot him down!
Its not my trait to criticise other blogs although at times I did take the queue from them. Blogs are our personal domain. Whatever we deem right does not necessarily speak for others. So, I don't blame The Unspinners for disagreeing with me. Its their problem!
I remember when some pro-Umno blogs campaigned for Mukhriz Mahathir (including The Unspinners) during the run-up to the party's election. My 'My Pick' posting was chided, some said I would lose because Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and Shahrizat would get the boot.
However, I was not happy with the result either. I wrote it after gaining enough evidence that the outcome would be as such! But just because Zahid, Shafie and Hisham retained their vice-president post, they accused me of being insensitive.
Ever since the result was announced, my friend from The Unspinners 'group' has stopped calling or texting me...but I will never call him 'bodoh tak ada akal'.
Yes, I don't know many non-journo bloggers. I don't group with them because I don't want anybody to influence my writings. What I write is what I feel but of course I will do some homework before penning it. I am poor and I can't afford to be sued for libel.
And why can't I become a friend of MCA?
Does it mean that when we are pro-Umno, its wrong to safeguard the interest of Barisan Nasional? What do you mean by pro-Umno but anti-BN? If you said Najib should step down in March next year, why do you think I must support your notion?
To my bros and friends at The Unspinners, thank you. You are free to opine!
