'Emulate me...'

NOTHING new except for the needs to close down schools in red areas. They rest were SOP and 'I'ism.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today advised Malaysians 'to be like him' in taking necessary precautions to contain the rising Covid-19 infection cases, especially in Kedah and Sabah.

That he is the best example for Malaysians, and that the government via the Health Ministry is in full alert of the pandemic.

Interesting FB 'live' press conference, notably how he observed caution when visiting many parts of Sabah during the campaigning for state election, how he didn't shake hands with anybody and even the story of his bodyguards and officials who were at their very best to avoid the infection.

Dunno if Malaysians were 'entertained' by the 'I' story but as I watched the FB 'live', there were positive comments and not few lashed out at him. A viewer also asked, "Tan Sri tak main golf hari ni?" (Aren't you playing golf today, Tan Sri?)

He also blamed it on the Sabah state election last month but cited the Constitution for it, that election must be held within 60 days after the state assembly is dissolved. Who asked for the dissolution and who approved it?

The laymen are now restless over the pandemic issue. Some blame it on politicians for neglecting the rakyat.

Wrong!

There were politicians, party workers, journalists and volunteers all over Sabah during the two-week campaign. Some observed the SOP, some didn't. They are all humans, and in some cases, social distancing was not really adhered to.

Muhyiddin was quick to defend them. Yes, I wouldn't agree more, that the situation in run-up to Sabah election was 'semi-controlled', especially in remote areas.

Just put the blame game behind. What the PM should have done just now is announce something new, maybe to restrict schooling hour for just four or five hours, or each and every Malaysian must undergo the swap test. Make it compulsory, instead of echoing what Health DG Noorhisham had said earlier.

I guess most Malaysians, irrespective of religion, race and ideology are willing to be as one again in the fight against Covid-19 but Muhyiddin as the No.1 leader should concentrate more on effort to douse off the public agony, not too much 'I'ism...
