Its kick-off for Umno divisional meeting. PM Najib was in Lumut yesterday while deputy Zahid Hamidi was in Bera and Kuala Selangor.
Other divisions also held similar meetings which was officiated by Umno top brass.
Yes, its a usual practice but what caught my attention is 'the rising' support Najib was getting amid accusations that he swindled 1MDB money and making Umno as 'his'.
I had attended many such meetings in the past but the environment this time around was far more 'rousing' than the past.
Is it a sign that Najib is still getting the 'grand support' from Umno despite some party's inner circle leaders who suggested its time for him to go to avoide Umno and Barisan Nasional succumb to their first defeat in the next general elections?
Their argument is that, irrespective of he is guilty or innocence, the bad publicity is affecting Malaysia's name abroad. Taking into account the magnitude of controversy surrounding him, its better that he takes the cue from some world leaders who had quit over various controversies.
That's what they said, not me.
Of course the question here is whether BN and Umno can sustain that popularity in GE14. Its a big question.
However, as what Najib said yesterday, his fate lies in the hands of Umno members and the voters, and NOT in the hands of his political nemesis, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Hey! Its between support and sympathy; trust and loyalty.
Amid criticism, it looks like he is going stronger....what say you readers?
