Thick-skinned Tony Pua!

DAP and Tony Pua 'cakap tak serupa bikin'.

When Barisan Nasional leaders are engulfed in controversy and under investigation, they say the person should resign. Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has been their subject of criticism over 1 Malaysia Development Berhad and the RM2.6 billion 'donation.

However, DAP and Tony are not walking the talk when they themselves are now the persons in question. He refused to step down from his position in the Public Account Committee (PAC), arguing that the police only want him as 'a witness'.

What is best to describe him? Thick-skinned?
DAP lawmaker Tony Pua said there is no reason for him to step down from his position in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as police is not investigating him over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Pua said 1MDB should first get their facts right as the police specifically informed him that he was being questioned only as a witness to their investigations.
“Is 1MDB saying that I should quit my place in the PAC‎ just because I'm assisting investigations as a witness?
“However, even if I were being investigated alleged crimes under the penal code section 124B for "activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy", regardless of how ridiculous the allegations are, how is that in conflict with the investigations into the RM42 billion 1MDB scandal?” questioned Pua in a statement last Friday.
Utusan Malaysia said it was surprised DAP’s Tony Pua is choosing to remain in the Public Accounts Committee after admitting he knew Sarawak Report’s Clare-Rewcastle Brown.
“Why is he thick-skinned as PAC members are beholden to integrity,” the Malay daily’s collective editorial pseudonym, Awang Selamat questioned in its weekly column.
Last two weeks, the New Straits Times carried a couple of exclusives based on former PetroSaudi employee Xavier Andre Justo’s confessions where he alleged that Rewcastle-Brown had along with the Petaling Jaya Utara lawmaker arranged the sale of the stolen data to The Edge media group owner, Datuk Tong Kooi Ong.

Pua later stressed while he had never heard of Justo.

He, however, knew Rewcastle-Brown since 2011, due to her whistle-blowing reports on Sarawak and Malaysia.

He said that he had shared contacts with Rewcastle-Brown, of which included The Edge Media Publications’ Datuk Tong Kooi Onn.

So, DAP too is thick-skinned. Of course its easy to comprehend their defensive stand for Tony. DAP wants to keep that PAC seat as it provides them with a little authority over the government.
GEORGE TOWN - DAP will defend Tony Pua (pix) following calls by certain quarters for him to be removed from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the party is behind Pua and would support him all the way.
Lim said it would be unethical to force Pua to resign from the committee.
"Sacking Pua is akin to taking action against a whistleblower, " he said at a press conference.
Lim was commenting on Pua's admission in an English daily that he had introduced Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle Brown to The Edge Media Group's bosses.

Following his admission, 1Malaysia Development Berhad urged Pua to relinquish his position in the PAC.

Hey! Tony is not a whistleblower. He is now among suspects who leaked and sold PAC documents to Sarawak Report. He was among few whom Justo singled out in his 'confession'.

We are not accusing him of anything. Until the result of a full investigation is complete, Tony could have at least take some responsibilities by stepping aside from the PAC and let the police and other authorities do their work.

Why is Tony so adamant? What is he trying to hide.... or afraid of?
