I concur with PM Najib Razak that we have to evaluate news disseminated by the social media because not all carry truth and fact.

However, I also would like to tell 'news hunters' that not all reports by mainstream media contain truth because some are fabricated for 'cover ups'.

So, better leave it to readers and listeners to weigh what is actual truth, half truth or lies.
BANDUNG, April 23 (Bernama) -- Students and youths are advised against easily believing reports from social media because not all are true.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said said as an educated group, they should think rationally and seek correct and accurate information.
"Not all reports in the social media are correct, some are false, some are slanderous and some are half truths, and in the borderless world this (the spread of information in the social media) is the most challenging.
"If in the past we depended on newspapers, today the new generations no longer read newspapers," he said in his speech during a meeting with Malaysian Students in Indonesia, here, Thursday night.
Najib said, after obtaining information from social media on issues, they should evaluate rationally to determine if the information was true or slanderous.
I had the experience, and so do some of my fellow journalists and journo-bloggers.

We were told 'what to report and not to report' but we understood the reasons behind such instructions from the top.

The bottom line is - support the legitimate government. Hmmm....

NOTE: I was 'absent' for about a week working with a think-tank group for Permatang Pauh. The end result is, our findings were not appreciated! Will pen it later...
